Categories of Membership:

Active
Physicians of Chinese descent, licenced to practice medicine in the U.S.A., who are Fellows of Members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and are engaged in clinical practice or holding positions in teaching, research in ophthalmology or health administration. Active members shall assume all responsibilities and enjoy all privileges of the Society.

$50 Active/ $25 Student or Members-In-Training/ $500 Lifetime membership

Associate
Associate members have the right to vote on matters brought before the Society, but may not hold elective office or serve on the Board of Directors.

Category A: Physicans licenced to practice medicine in North, South or Central America, having completed a recognized residency training program.
Category B: Individuals with a Ph.D. or O.D. engaged in ophthalmic teaching or research in North, South or Central America.

Guest
Guest members may take part in meetings of the Society, but shall have no voice in or vote upon matters pertaining to the Society.

Category A: Residents or Fellows in ophthalmology (limited to 3 years).
Category B: Foreign (non-American) ophthalmologists and other physicians involved in eye care, who have completed an approved residency training program.
Category C: Medical students
Category D: Individuals certified in a paramedical field.


Emeritus
Physicians who are past or eligible active or associate members, and who no longer engage in active clinical practice or hold an academic position. Emeritus members shall enjoy full privilages of the SOciety appropriate to the above membership category, however may not serve on the Board of Directors. Dues are waived.

Honorary
The Board of Directors may confer this designation upon any individual. Honorary members may attend all meetings of the Society, but may enjoy no other privileges. There are no dues.
